Column scape (2025)
This work begins with the architectural element of the column. It explores the spatial meaning and essence of the column, expanding it into a realm of variation and creation. Through continuous transformation, the columns generate space and construct a landscape — a “scape.” I viewed these landscapes as producing diverse spatial boundaries, and designed a bus terminal as a programmatic response to them.
The project, titled Columscape, assumes that columns originally existed within a 7.5-meter grid. From this premise, variations emerge according to programmatic needs and spatial experiences, continuously transforming the architectural landscape.
본 작업은 기둥이라는 건축 요소로부터 출발한다. 기둥이 가지는 공간적 의미와 본질을 탐구하며, 이를 변주와 창조의 영역으로 확장시킨다. 기둥들은 변주를 통해 공간을 창조하고 풍경(Scape)을 만들어 낸다. 또한 본인은 이러한 풍경이 다양한 공간적 경계를 만들어 낸다고 보았고, 이에 맞는 프로그램으로 버스 터미널을 설계하였다. Columscape라는 제목을 가진 이 건축물은 7.5m 그리드에 원래 기둥이 존재하였다고 설정하고, 프로그램과 공간적 경험을 근거 삼아 변주를 이어 나간다.
